The new version of the portable PC will have to wait — no release dates have been announced.
Valve engineer Pierre-Lou Griffe told IGN that the company is "hard at work" on the next generation of Steam Deck, but is not yet ready to share details about the device's specifications or design. He emphasized that a direct connection can be drawn between the original Steam Controller, Steam Machines, and Steam Deck, and the company's future products planned for 2026.According to Griffe, all current hardware development experience will definitely be reflected in Steam Deck 2 and will set the direction for the evolution of the portable PC. At the same time, there is currently no specific "release window" for the device.Separately, the engineer clarified the status of other projects: for Steam Machine, according to him, all key features are already ready, only logistics and pricing remain to be resolved; news is promised to be announced soon. The situation is similar with Steam Frame — the new VR headset.Griffe also reiterated his position, voiced back in November: Valve is not interested in simply increasing power in Steam Deck 2 — the company wants a more noticeable qualitative leap. The first Deck model was released in February 2022, and the version with an OLED screen came out in November 2023.
