Sony summed up the year: console sales remain high, and investments in the next generation are gradually increasing.
According to Sony's latest report, the total volume of PS5 shipments reached 93.7 million units. For the quarter ending March 31, the company shipped 1.5 million consoles, and for the entire fiscal year — 16 million, which was one million above the initial forecast.Revenue from the gaming division and services remained roughly at last year's level, but operating profit increased by 12%. Among the weak points, Sony noted a decrease in the value of Bungie's assets — during the fiscal year, their valuation dropped by approximately 765 million dollars. The monthly PSN audience was 125 million people: this is less than in the holiday quarter but slightly higher than the figure a year ago. In the next fiscal year, the company expects a slight decline in hardware sales due to price increases, although the outlook for exclusives remains positive. At the same time, Sony is increasingly directing funds towards the development of the new PlayStation but is not yet in a hurry to reveal details.
