The Japanese company Nintendo shared fresh financial achievements: over the past year, its sales soared by 98.6%, and net profit increased by more than half — by 52.1%. The cumulative shipment volume of the new Switch 2 surpassed 19.86 million units (of which 2.5 million were in the last quarter). As for its predecessor, the original Switch, its figures reached 155.7 million units (an increase of 550 thousand for the quarter). Total software sales for the consoles, including add-ons, amounted to 48.7 million copies.Nevertheless, due to the upcoming price increase for the Switch 2 (prices in the US and Europe will change from September 1), the company was forced to cut shipment forecasts for the next fiscal year. Serious personnel changes were also announced: at the end of June, industry veteran Takashi Tezuka, who contributed to the creation of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening and A Link to the Past, will leave the studio. Additionally, Nintendo updated data on exclusive titles' sales: Mario Kart World sold 14.7 million copies, Donkey Kong Bananza — 4.5 million, and the recent Pokémon Pokopia sold 4 million copies in the first five weeks. Sales of Metroid Prime 4 exceeded one million, although the game was not mentioned in the report itself.
