Valve has taken the redesign out of beta — navigation through the catalog has become more convenient.
The updated Steam main page interface has completed its beta testing period and is now available to the entire platform audience. The main goal of the update is visual consistency of elements and a more comfortable browsing experience of the game catalog.
Notable improvements have appeared in the recommendations section: the platform now explains why it suggests a particular game, displays a summary of user reviews, and launches a micro-trailer when hovering the cursor. The carousel has been supplemented with a preview of adjacent positions. Discounts on games from the wishlist and recommended add-ons have been placed in a permanently visible spot in the store.
Among other innovations are a personal gaming calendar with announcements and upcoming releases, an updated recommendation list without the need to leave the main page, as well as a redesigned section of popular upcoming new releases. In the interface settings, there is now an option to disable animations and autoplay of trailers, improved gamepad support, and images are now available in higher resolution.
