Oval Gear Animation Studio is already working on its first project.
Katsuhiro Otomo — manga artist and director, famous for the manga "Akira" and its cult 1988 anime adaptation — announced the founding of his own animation studio.
On May 11, it became known that Oval Gear Animation Studio was established as part of the Japanese corporation Oval Gear Co. Ltd. The company aims to preserve and pass on to future generations the authorial approach and production methods that Otomo has honed over decades. Plans also include releasing animated works for an international audience.
Otomo's new project is already in development. Details about it will be published on the official website and social media of Oval Gear.
The studio also announced a recruitment drive: animators and production department specialists are needed — both beginners and experienced. Conditions and requirements for candidates will appear on the company's official website soon.
