The opening theme of the second season of "My Hero Academia" has surpassed 500,000 sales in the USA.
Sony Music confirmed that the song "Peace Sign" — Kenshi Yonezu's seventh single, used as the opening theme for the first cour of the second season of the anime "My Hero Academia" in 2017 — has been officially certified as "Gold" by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The RIAA awards Gold and Platinum statuses based on US sales: "Gold" is given to tracks with over 500,000 units sold.
Another Yonezu single — "KICK BACK" from 2022, the opening theme of "Chainsaw Man" — reached Gold status in August 2023 and Platinum in September 2025. The new certification for "Peace Sign" makes Yonezu the only artist to be awarded RIAA certifications three times for songs in Japanese.

"Peace Sign" was released in Japan on June 21, 2017, and ranked second on the weekly Oricon singles chart. The music video has garnered over 330 million views on the artist's official YouTube channel.
