Valve is testing a new animation system that reduces CPU and network load.
Valve released a beta update for Counter-Strike 2, in which all third-person animations were switched to the AnimGraph2 system — it is supposed to reduce CPU load and network traffic, and players are asked to report bugs and impressions.
The patch also added a new sound when pulling out the C4 and reworked the logic for changing the model's height on inclined surfaces, which may change the behavior of grenades on slopes; the developers have not yet announced the release dates for these fixes in the main version.
Earlier, in the summer of 2025, Valve began updating first-person animations in CS2, and in March 2026 released a major patch that radically changed the reload system.
