The original release date for The Relic: First Guardian was set for May 26, 2026, but the publisher Perp Games and the studio Project Cloud Games announced a delay — now the game will be released "later this summer" on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2. According to Perp Games CEO Rob Edwards, the delay is due to the team wanting to spend more time refining the world and eliminating rough edges in their first, highly ambitious project, which has involved years of work.The events of The Relic: First Guardian take place in the dark fantasy world of Arsiltus, devastated after the destruction of the Great Relic. In the silence of the post-apocalyptic ruins, echoes of the past can still be heard — whispers of emotions and desires of those who lived before the catastrophe, trapped in smaller relics. The player, as the Last Guardian, must find and use these Relics to honor the memory of their owners and restore the world’s former prosperity.
The progression system is based not on levels but on equipment and Relics (runes): each of them grants one of more than 70 passive effects that influence skills, combat tempo, and the effectiveness of specific weapon types.
