Chris Avellone, co-founder of Obsidian Entertainment and one of the key developers of Fallout: New Vegas, spoke in an interview with the YouTube channel TKs-Mantis about the prospects of a remaster of the cult RPG. In his opinion, Bethesda lacks the necessary technical foundation: "Simply put, I don't think Bethesda has the engineering knowledge to create a New Vegas remaster." The central problem, according to Avellone, is the absence of the source code: at the end of development, Obsidian was offered to transfer all source files for $10,000, but Bethesda apparently never acquired this package. Without it, recreating the game is technically much more difficult.Avellone suggested a logical alternative sequence: if a remaster is to be made, it would be more reasonable to first work through the process on Fallout 3, identify arising problems, and only then move on to New Vegas.
