April 2026 turned out to be a month of surprises: three new games entered the top 3 at once, and only one of them is from a major studio.
The official weekly Steam revenue chart for April 14–21 from SteamDB recorded a sensational result: the top spot among paid games was taken by the cooperative pirate survival game Windrose — a project by the Uzbek studio Kraken Express, which entered early access only on April 14. One million copies sold in six days and a peak online of over 200 thousand players placed Windrose alongside the biggest hits of the indie scene in recent years.
