Pearl Abyss released patch 1.04.00 for Crimson Desert on April 23: the update added three difficulty levels to the game, allowing players to choose a challenge suited to any playstyle. New storage options for items by category appeared — crafting materials are now accessible directly from storage without moving them to the inventory. The inventory also underwent changes: separate tabs were added for documents, equipment, food, consumables, and others — making it noticeably easier to navigate.The pets section has been expanded: five new breeds of cats and birds, and now all companions can be given names. All three protagonists received new gear or weapons, but Cliff got only one armor set. The control system was enhanced with layout presets and instant activation of interactions with a single press. Boss balance was revised: now they can be damaged even while performing powerful attacks. By mid-April, Crimson Desert had sold 5 million copies.
