Critics warmly welcomed the new action game from Housemarque even before its official release.
Reviews of Saros were published on April 24, a few days before the game's release. The project received high scores: 88 points on Metacritic and 92 on OpenCritic, although the latter is based on fewer reviews.
Journalists note that the game is not a direct sequel to Returnal, but feels like its conceptual development. The developers refined the mechanics, making the gameplay smoother and more varied, and the environment more diverse. The combat system requires attentiveness: the character is vulnerable, but enemies also die quite quickly.
At the same time, Saros turned out to be less strict than Returnal. Players do not need to start over after each death, and the upgrade system simplifies battles. Nevertheless, challenging bosses can still pose serious difficulties.
The story also received high praise: the narrative became deeper and darker, and the protagonist’s personal storyline is closely tied to the mysteries of the planet Karkos.
The main character was played by Rahul Kohli, and his performance is already being considered a potential contender for awards. Despite the presence of secondary characters, a significant part of the narrative revolves around the protagonist’s solitude.
