The legendary map has received a complete refresh for the Source 2 engine and is once again available in competitive mode.
On April 9, the developers of Counter-Strike 2 released an update, the main event of which was the return of the Cache map to the active competitive pool. The location had been shelved since March 2019, when it was replaced by Vertigo. During this time, the engine changed, and the creators completely redesigned the map to utilize the capabilities of Source 2 — textures, models, and the lighting system were reworked. At the same time, the update brought a slight disappointment for CS history enthusiasts. The graffiti immortalizing s1mple’s famous double kill with the AWP at the ESL One Cologne 2016 semifinals was removed from the updated version. Cache is now available in Casual, Competitive, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes.
