The studio Arcanaut has revealed the team creating the spiritual successor to the cult classic KOTOR.

The announcement of Star Wars: Fate Of The Old Republic in the form of a short teaser at The Game Awards 2025 caused a sensation in the gaming community. The new RPG is positioned as the ideological successor to the legendary Knights Of The Old Republic (KOTOR). For Star Wars Day the studio Arcanaut Studios, founded a year ago by Casey Hudson (director of the original KOTOR and the Mass Effect series), updated its website and revealed the key developers of the project.The team is filled with BioWare veterans. Among them are Dan Fessenden, who worked on KOTOR and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and technical director Ryan Hoyle, whose portfolio includes KOTOR, Neverwinter Nights, and Jade Empire. Director of external development Melanie Folknor previously participated in the creation of The Old Republic, Mass Effect, and The Outer Worlds 2. Sound is handled by Caroline Livingston, who worked at BioWare since 2003. Production artist Pascal Blanche is a Ubisoft alumnus (Assassin’s Creed). Arcanaut continues to expand its staff, and Hudson himself stated that the release of Fate Of The Old Republic will not happen before the end of the decade, by 2030.
