 Enthusiasts managed to run the cult game on many modern devices, including the portable Steam Deck, thanks to code decompilation.

The development of the project under the codename Dusk began back in August 2020. A group of dedicated fans spent several years on the decompilation process to make The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess work on current hardware without using traditional emulators.Currently, the unofficial port is available to Windows and Linux users (x86-64 architecture), as well as owners of devices based on macOS, iOS, and Android. To play, gamers will need a legal disc image (PAL or NTSC regions) from the GameCube console version, since the game files themselves are not embedded in Dusk. The port authors note that a release for Nintendo Switch is not expected due to the need to completely rewrite the graphics engine. Among the advantages of the port: no frame rate limit, resolution scaling, and nice touches like faster ladder climbing and skipping dialogues. Notably, this is not the first such project — in 2024, PC gamers received a similar port of Majora's Mask.
