More than ten years after the disappearance of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed along with the old expanded Star Wars canon, the series has once again come into the spotlight. The reason was new references in Andor and especially in the animated project Star Wars: Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter.The most discussed was precisely Maul. Viewers noticed several visual and stylistic similarities with The Force Unleashed in the series. One of the most notable moments was the scene where Maul destroys an AT-ST with the same aggressive flair that once distinguished Starkiller.Additional interest was sparked by the season finale: Maul fights with a reverse grip and holds a lightsaber in a form very similar to Galen Marek’s fighting style. For many, this was too obvious a parallel to consider it a coincidence.The involvement of Sam Witwer, who voiced Starkiller, also played a role. For fans, this looks like another hint that Lucasfilm has not forgotten the character’s legacy.Although The Force Unleashed still remains in the status of “Legends” rather than canon, interest in it clearly has not faded.
