An unexpected announcement at the tournament in Paris opened a new chapter in the game's history.
During the RLCS 2026 esports championship in Paris, the Psyonix studio surprised fans: Rocket League will officially switch to Unreal Engine 6. Along with the announcement, the developers presented a short teaser under the slogan “A New Era” — the new engine’s logo was shown at the end of the video.Judging by the video materials, the game’s visual component will undergo radical changes: the creators demonstrated significantly more realistic car models on the arena and especially emphasized that all footage was captured in real time.Notably, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney already in May 2025 mentioned that the full release of Unreal Engine 6 is expected within a two-to-three-year horizon. Additionally, the company plans to integrate Fortnite’s developments into the new engine’s core.
