CD Projekt's head explained why expansions for the new game are unlikely.

Michal Nowakowski, head of CD Projekt, during the financial report implied: one should not expect expansions for "The Witcher 4". The company adheres to an ambitious plan — to release the entire trilogy about Ciri over six years, which leaves only three years between each release. At such a pace, there simply is no time left for DLC development.Separately, Nowakowski touched on the topic of the "Ballad of the Past" expansion for "The Witcher 3." Originally, the expansion was planned for release in 2026, but the launch was postponed to improve quality. In scale, the DLC is comparable to "Blood and Wine" — as previously reported by the developers themselves. The head described "Ballad of the Past" as a kind of reminder of the franchise ahead of "The Witcher 4" with a new main character. The price and exact release date of the expansion have not yet been officially announced.
