Starting June 11, football fans will be able to play the new FIFA using their own phones to control the virtual team.
The streaming service Netflix delighted sports fans with the announcement of the game FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition, supported by its debut trailer. This is the first project under the official FIFA brand since 2022, when the sports organization ended its long-standing partnership with the publisher Electronic Arts. The release of the new simulator was timed to coincide with the upcoming start of the Football World Cup.The new game was created by the studio Delphi Interactive, which previously assisted the IO Interactive team in working on the spy action game 007 First Light. The developers implemented an unusual control scheme: the user's mobile phone will act as the controller. To start a match on the TV, the player will only need to scan the QR code on the screen. Judging by the trailer description, the project will also be available to PC users, most likely through a regular web browser. The sports simulator will offer gamers a substantial amount of content. The game will feature all 48 national teams participating in the 2026 tournament, over a thousand real football players, and 16 meticulously recreated stadiums located in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. Access to the new game will be included in the basic Netflix subscription at no extra cost. Closed beta testing of the project for residents of Brazil and Germany is taking place on June 4.Representatives…
