The developers of the hit vampire survival game V Rising have shared a candid studio update: a follow-up in the same universe is already in early development.


Stunlock Studios published a detailed developer update on its blog , confirming that the team has wrapped up content production for V Rising and is now entirely focused on a new game set in the same universe. The studio described the project as the most ambitious in its 15-year history, one that will not be held back by the technical or design constraints that shaped V Rising and earlier titles. "We are currently building the architecture to support both our own and your most ambitious visions," the team wrote.
The new project is still in early development, meaning a formal announcement is likely some way off. V Rising will not go dark entirely, however — it will continue to receive patches addressing bugs and balance. The studio also addressed the long-discussed topic of mod support: after exploring the possibility for V Rising, the team concluded it could not deliver the toolset to the standard it wanted. Rather than abandoning the idea, Stunlock has carried it forward as a goal for the next game.
V Rising launched in Early Access in 2022 and received its full release in 2024. By January 2025, the vampire survival game had sold five million copies.
