In the second week after its release, Crimson Desert set a new peak concurrent player record on Steam — 276,261 simultaneous players as of March 29.Crimson Desert, by the Korean studio Pearl Abyss, was released on March 19, 2026, and already on the day of release entered the top three most popular games on Steam. On the first weekend — March 22 — a peak online of 248,530 users was recorded, but a week later, on March 29, this mark was surpassed: the game was launched by 276,261 people simultaneously. Such dynamics — growth instead of decline in the second week — is rarely seen in the industry and almost always indicates a strong word-of-mouth effect. The first days after release were challenging: on Steam, the game opened with a “mixed” review rating — users complained about unresponsive controls, repetitive quests, and technical issues. The studio responded quickly: a series of patches addressing community feedback improved the rating to “very positive.” Commercially, the results also look convincing: over 3 million copies were sold worldwide in the first six days after release. Pearl Abyss expects the next public milestone to be the announcement of surpassing 5 million copies sold.
