Following the triumph of "Final Destination: Bloodlines," Sony Pictures signed an extensive exclusive contract with Lipovsky and Stein, under which the duo will produce projects for various studio labels, including Columbia Pictures. Among these is a new attempt to adapt Metal Gear Solid, which has been stuck in development since the mid-2000s.
Studio head Sanford Panitch called the directors "masters of suspense and visual storytelling," assuring that their approach is perfectly suited for the complex, cinematic world of MGS. The directors themselves noted in a press statement that Metal Gear Solid "forever revolutionized games with its cinematic approach," and that it is an honor for them to "bring to life the iconic characters and unforgettable world of Hideo Kojima on the big screen." However, it has not yet been officially confirmed which part of the franchise they will adapt or when filming will begin.
