According to Deadline and other publications, Marvel conducted a wave of layoffs affecting about 8% of the company's total staff. The cuts took place in two divisions: Marvel Entertainment in New York and Marvel Studios in Burbank, California. Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro emphasized in an official letter to employees that the layoffs were not related to the quality of work of those affected — it was about structural optimization of resource allocation.
