Universal has moved the release of the fourth installment almost six months earlier.

Originally, the sequel to 'The Mummy' starring Brendan Fraser was planned to be released on May 19, 2028, but Universal postponed the U.S. premiere to October 15, 2027, making the film an autumn release. The now-vacant May 2028 date was taken by the feature reboot of 'Miami Vice' starring Austin Butler and Michael B. Jordan, directed by Joseph Kosinski. The new 'The Mummy' is being worked on by directors Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who previously directed 'Ready or Not,' and according to insiders, the schedule shift is related to the team's readiness to begin filming soon.
