According to Deadline, Kate Beckinsale has landed the lead role in the film "Twilight of the Dead". The movie will be the final chapter of George A. Romero's iconic zombie series.The project, approved by the director's heirs, was recently completely rebooted. During the process, investors, directors, and part of the cast changed — Beckinsale will now replace Milla Jovovich. The remaining roles are yet to be cast.The plot unfolds in a post-apocalyptic world where the remnants of humanity must fight on two fronts. The heroes will have to face both internal conflicts and the growing threat from the living dead.The film is now directed by brothers Doron and Yoav Paz, known for the films "Golem" and "Plan A." Stunts and fight scenes are handled by Ho Sun Pak, who worked on "Bullet Train."The basis of the film is a script draft that Romero wrote shortly before his death in 2017 as the conclusion to his hexalogy. The previous film in the series was released back in 2009.
