Oracle Corporation carried out a massive wave of layoffs affecting about 30,000 employees worldwide — approximately 18% of its global workforce. The layoffs occurred without any prior warning: early in the morning, employees received a termination letter, and access to corporate systems was blocked immediately. For most, the day they received the notice automatically became their last working day at the company. The most significant cuts were in India: out of 30,000 local employees, about 12,000 lost their jobs. Those laid off included programmers, client managers, and project leaders. Notably, shortly before the layoffs, specialists were required to thoroughly document their entire work process, and the collected materials were used to train AI systems. Meanwhile, Oracle’s business is on the rise: the company is recording record financial results and holds an order backlog of about $553 billion.
